It’ll cost more to hire a lawyer. However, it’s more important you hire a lawyer because the lawyer’s value is the questions he asks and probes with you and explains to you what you want. What you think you want may not be what you want. It’s only after there’s an inventory taken plus an inventory of who your family is and your relationship to them, and your wants and desires for them, and what you want that documents can be properly prepared. The value of the lawyer is to ask these questions, these follow-up questions, and to be the midwife to your thoughts, your ideas, and what you want for your family that you know is best.
